ABOUT RACQUET WAR

Fun, friends, tennis, and destination weekends.

Racquet War began in 2009 with Oakley Foy and Robin Barringer and quickly grew from early destination events at Saddlebrook Resort near Tampa into a national tennis experience.

Today, Racquet War is built around open competition, great resort settings, mixed and women’s doubles, and the social side of the game that keeps players coming back.

Our Story

Over the first few years, Racquet War experimented with different event formats, including NTRP divisions, age divisions, World Team Tennis and even prize-money events in cities like Houston and Atlanta.

Everything was finding its footing, but the format took off when Oakley developed the Waterfall Bracket. It remains a core part of Racquet War today because it was designed around the players and allows anyone to partner and play without getting boxed in by NTRP limitations.

That player-first idea became the foundation for everything that followed: fun competition, memorable destinations and a tennis community built around real relationships.

Oakley, Founder

The Waterfall Bracket changed everything.

At Racquet War, we’re all about fun, friends, and tennis. Our tournaments are open to all levels and designed for mixed and women’s doubles players aged 18 and up. While our events won’t affect your USTA rating, you can still expect plenty of friendly competition on court. Each tournament is more than just a match—it’s a vacation experience, complete with great resort deals, social events, and the chance to make lifelong tennis friends.

Tournaments + Travel

Destination tournaments

Most Racquet War tournaments run 3 to 4 days, and players can often choose entry-only participation or an accommodation package with a discounted partner resort.

Current and classic destinations have included South Carolina, Florida, Palm Springs, the Bahamas and Cancun, keeping the weekend experience tied to a real travel destination.

Racquet War Experiences

Racquet War Experiences are the more curated tennis-vacation version of the brand: 4 to 7 night adventures that can include tennis lessons, excursions, food, drinks and the planning support needed to simply show up and play.

These trips have taken Racquet War beyond the weekend tournament format and into destination experiences in places such as Napa Valley, Italy and Germany.

Player Party

Bahamas 2024

Bahamas remains a crowd favorite. We have designed this tournament more about the vacation. Most play one match a day, so you can really enjoy Baha Mar and all it has to offer.
